The countdown to Christmas is on. Do you have all the essentials? We’re here to help…

1. A Fantastic Wreath

We love this shot of color on an otherwise neutral wreath. Nothing says Christmas like red!

If you love simplicity like I do, all you need is a little greenery. Shape it into a wreath? and voila, instant Christmas spirit!

2. a christmas tree

We love a traditional Christmas tree full of glittering branches, animalsĀ and poinsettias:

but we also love this modern take on the Christmas Tree by Kara Rosenlund. So creative yet simple:

don’t want to go into Christmas debt this year? No problem! Just get a small tree and put it on a table!

3. presents

If you’re going to have a tree, you want to have beautifully packaged presents under them. Everything is so much more special tied up in paper and string. Here is one of our favorites by Padgett Hoke:

4. stockings

We love this idea, because many of us don’t have a mantle. Some of us may even have a fireplace and no mantle! Never fear, the stockings will still get stuffed. Just hang it from a branch. If there is a little greenery or perhaps a berry? Even better! HOHOHO!!

5. a snow globe! We love this modern take on the old fashioned snow globe. If you have an apothecary jar, or even a mason jar, just fill it with salt, some greenery, and a Christmas ornament and voila! Instant Christmas table decor!

6. garlands

Garlands on staircases is so beautiful. And simple greenery is plenty. We love the look of this home’s traditional entrance:

7. decorate your mantle

we love this all gold and silver mantle. Don’t feel like spending a lot on new decor? gold leaf it! here is a great tutorial from Bronson Van Wyck:

8. display your Christmas cards

It’s that time of year when we hear from our friends far and near. But what to do with all the cards?!? We love this idea, and why not cover the mirror a little right after we ate that huge Thanksgiving meal?

9. an advent wreath

In many cultures, this time of year represents the celebration of light. The decrease in daylight hours before the invention of modern lights kept us inside near the fire and candle light. Candles, an advent wreath, or a menorah’s are all great ways to celebrate our culture, heritage and religion. We love this simple version:

11. treats!

We love the idea of beautiful and edible treats. These gingerbread ornaments are the perfect combination.

12. Yay! We made it to 12. Well, the last one should probably be the first one, as you all know the postal service is working hard to deliver all of the wonderful packages and cards. Here is a great idea, especially if you have kids (or pets) and a chalkboard:
