My husband and I got married just a year ago, and lets just say that blending our things has been a challenge. My style is quite modern and he is ultra traditional, and loves everything old. He actually has quite a few pieces, but the sheer amount of our combined things has made my living room feel cluttered. I have been seeing quite a lot of great dark walls, and this image in particular makes me feel that The dark walls will calm our collection of ecclectic things, and give the eye a visual break… We have a number of items in common with the following room:
And I love how this dark room looks coming off of a light room (our adjacent kitchen is white)
This dark hallway shows how uncluttered and great a dark color makes a collection of pictures look:
This gorgeous light sofa really pops on the dark walls (not that my sofa is anything in comparison, it is an old hand me down from my brother, that’s why I have not shown photos of my living room here…)
And on a side note, I love what this dark ceiling brings to the dining room. So much drama. Who needs an expensive dining table when you can have this ceiling?
Hope you enjoyed my thoughts about dark walls. Did this inspire any of you to take the leap? If so I would love to hear your thoughts, and see some photos!
